Urban Stairs

New stairs provide an energetic expression of entry at buildings in various locations in Cambridge. Shop-fabricated steel and pre-cast concrete assemblies line the fronts of brick townhouses, arcing outward to define outdoor spaces associated with each apartment. A proposed four story egress stair in a tight urban neighborhood is wrapped in spaced wood-fiber composite boards, creating a striking composition of solids and voids to screen private terraces.
