[ THE CHALLENGE ]  Build a new community center at a public housing development development that provides space for meetings, after school activities, and an office with support facilities.

[ THE RESPONSE ]  The new structure occupies a once-forlorn corner adjacent to the development’s central crossroads; its brick cladding peels away to engage the surrounding community. The main gathering space is energized by generous glazing that wraps around it on all four sides. The open planning allows it to be used for a range of different activities.
