[ THE CHALLENGE ] Explore development options for an underutilized site adjacent to the commuter rail station and the Common that will help energize the downtown area. Incorporate a range of public, commercial and residential uses.
[THE RESPONSE ] Mixed use buildings define the perimeter of the block which is criss-crossed by public passageways. Terraces step up to the elevated commuter rail line and weave it into the fabric of the surrounding town. A community space beneath a tilted lawn accommodates a farmers market, performances and exhibitions with oversize fold-up doors opening up to the adjacent streetscape.
