The American Institute of Architects established its Housing Award program 19 years ago. Each year, a select number of projects are recognized as the best in housing design for new construction, renovations, and restorations.
This year’s recipients were selected by a five-member jury that evaluated projects for demonstrating design excellence, which includes consideration on whether the designs are sustainable, affordable, durable, innovative, socially impactful, meeting client needs, and addressing the natural and built contexts.
We are happy to announce that Abacus Architects + Planners has been selected as the recipient of the 2019 AIA Housing Award, in the Multifamily Housing category, for the recently completed Jefferson Park Apartments project in Cambridge. This project, along with eleven others, emphasizes the importance of good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit, and a valuable national resource.
Congratulations to all those involved!
